Sports Council

What is the Sports Council?

The Sports Council is a group of pupils who meet each half term to discuss ways that we can be improve sports and physical activities around school. Pupils will have the opportunity to choose activities that can be completed during lunch time and collate ideas from their classes for how we can continue to promote and develop sport within our school. There are two members from each class in Key Stage 1 and 2 who work alongside Mrs Lloyd. The council members for this year are:

Year 1: Jacob B and Adriel

Year 2: Isaac and Katy

Year 3: Michael and Jenise

Year 4: Jack and Orla

Year 5: Danielius and Iyla

Year 6: Santi and Julia

At the beginning of each year, pupils can apply to be on the Sports Council. Anyone in Key Stage 2 who would like to be considered for the role will complete an application and explain their reasons to the class so that the other pupils in class can then vote for their preferred choice based on what they would like to achieve. Key Stage 1 pupils will put their names forward and be selected by their class.

What Happens in the Meetings?

We will begin the year by discussing any sports that the children have enjoyed or have been involved with over the last year. Children can then share any changes they would like to see incorporated in the sports that we do here at school. They can share any skills that they would like to work on and from this we can develop half termly challenges for the classes to complete where pupils are challenging their own personal best. Sports Council leaders will also promote any upcoming sporting events with their classes, assist with sports day and gather information on any after school clubs that their peers would like to see on offer here at school.
