Our Patron Saint

ST WILLIAM OF YORK

Saint William of York is the special saint who watches over our school. He was born a very long time ago in York, and from a young age, he wanted to serve God. William worked hard in the Church and was eventually chosen to be the Archbishop of York – a very important job!

But things weren’t always easy for William. Some people didn’t agree with him being chosen and tried to stop him. Even though he faced lots of problems and had to leave York for a while, William stayed calm and trusted in God. He didn’t argue or give up – instead, he prayed, stayed humble, and continued to live a good and faithful life.

Later, the people of York were so happy when William came back, they crowded the bridge to welcome him – and the bridge collapsed! Amazingly, no one was hurt, and many believed this was a miracle.

Sadly, William became ill soon after and died. But people remembered him as a kind and holy man who never stopped trusting in God. Years later, the Church made him a saint, and you can still visit his special shrine in York Minster today.

Saint William shows us how to be patient, kind, and faithful, even when things are difficult. He teaches us to never give up and to always try to do what is right.

As the patron saint of our school, we ask Saint William to pray for us – our children, our staff, and our whole school community – as we try to live out our mission every day.

Saint William of York – pray for us.
